    Sentry is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Platform to help us scale infrastructure that ingests billions of events in real-time. If you enjoy building infrastructure for “really big data,” and solving system-level problems at scale, this role is for you.

    About the Role

    The Platform team at Sentry owns major parts of our infrastructure:

    🔁 Ingestion Pipeline

    Handles billions of events with sub-second latency. Currently built with RabbitMQ and Celery — but we’re transitioning to Apache Kafka. You’ll help bring this modern, high-performance streaming platform to life.

    🗃️ Data Stores

    • We use ClickHouse for analytics and massive-scale queries.

    • PostgreSQL ensures data consistency.

    • Redis powers our caching.

    Your challenge: push these systems to new limits while keeping performance top-notch.

    In This Role, You Will

    • Build a new analytics platform and expand our Stateful Services Platform.

    • Architect and automate systems to meet massive scale demands.

    • Lead technical decisions in collaboration with product and engineering.

    • Drive code quality and codebase maintainability.

    • Participate in design reviews and improve team-wide development practices.

    • Make technical systems more approachable for the broader engineering team.

    Qualifications

    • 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.

    • Strong understanding of replicated and distributed storage systems.

    • Proficiency in Python (or similar dynamic languages).

    • Experience with systems like:

      • Apache Kafka

      • ClickHouse

      • PostgreSQL

      • Redis

    • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.

    • Based in the San Francisco Bay Area or open to relocating.
